Craig Breen is the fastest in the Qualifying

The duo Craig Breen/James Fulton, in a Hyundai i20 N Rally2, was the fastest, on this Friday  afternoon, in the Qualifying of the Serras de Fafe, Felgueiras, Boticas, Vieira do Minho and Cabeceiras de Basto Rally, inaugural event of the FIA-ERC (European Championship) and of the Portugal Rallies Championship (PRC), after achieving the time of 2.23.769 in the 3.61 km of the Montim section.

Team Hyundai Portugal’s new Irish “reinforcement,” which had already been the fastest in morning free practice, beat Norwegian Mads Ostberg (Citroen C3) by a margin of 0.687s,  while both Poland’s Miko Marczik (Skoda Fabia) and Finland’s Mikko Heikkila (Skoda Fabia) finished in the same second (23).

Armindo Araújo (Skoda Fabia), reigning national champion, was the best Portuguese   (2.17.002) in the eleventh position, while José Pedro Fontes (Citroen C3), with a time of 2.21.426, finished qualifying in 23rd place.

The rally’s first special classification competition, on Friday night, starts at 9:05 pm on the streets of Fafe city centre and will have a distance of 1.43 km.
